FINANCIAL BENCHMARKING
Schools are now able to compare income and expenditure with similar establishments in England.
There are 4 main areas of expenditure
- Staff totals
- premises totals (for example, building maintenance)
- occupation totals (the cost of occupying the school building, for example, energy and water)
- supplies and services totals (for example, stationery, books and examination fees)
Benchmarking helps the school:
- look at spend in these areas overall, as well as sub-categories of spend
- compare our spend with other similar schools (or academy trusts) make sure that we are getting the best value when using school funds
